About the groomer

Hi, my name is Nikki, owner and operator  of Curbside Pet Spa LLC. I have always had a special fondness for animals and in particular, dogs. As an eighth grader, I volunteered for community service at a pet facility that offered boarding, doggie daycare, training and grooming. Throughout my high school years I worked part-time at the same establishment and was given a full-time position working in the various departments after earning my Animal Care degree from Becker College.

I have been a full-time groomer for  14 years. Your pet will be handled with the utmost care. As a dog owner and pet lover myself, I know the value and love pet owners have who use mobile grooming services and strive to exceed your expectations of the services I provide. I look forward to grooming your pup!

The base price starts at $100 plus applicable sales tax.

What Do You Want to Know?

Home: FAQ

Why does mobile grooming cost more then a shop?

Mobile grooming is a luxury/express service. I come to you and groom your pet straight-through. This is an extra “Express” service for most grooming shops. My service involves experienced professional service, quality products, cage free ( I hand dry only) personalized attention and gentle, loving care. Mobile grooming is not for everyone. Only you can decide if the care, quality and attention are worth the price.

How long does the grooming take?

Every pet is different, it can take anywhere from 1 hour, to up to 3 hours. The pets disposition, coat condition, and what grooming is being done all plays a roll in how long the process will be. I also hand dry rather than cage dry, this process takes longer, but it is part of my personal hands-on care. I take my time and pride myself on giving your pet my undivided attention.

What forms of payment are accepted?

I accept Cash, money transfer via Zelle, Checks, and Credit Cards. If any reason a check bounces you will be charged an extra $25 fee. Payment is do once the grooming has been completed.

What are the requirements for the grooming?

All pets must be up to date with their rabies vaccination. Proof of rabies is needed, you can show proof of it upon my arrival to your house or you can email the information prior to your visit. I will ask you to update your pet's vaccination information as it reaches the expiration date.

First time clients and all returning clients must inform me of any medical conditions or changes in your pet's health. Please note: If your pet is exhibiting any symptoms of being ill such as coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, fever, unusual redness or discharge from eyes, etc. I will ask you to reschedule your appointment until they receive proper clearance from your veterinarian. This is for the safety of your pet and all the other pets I groom.

Why is it important to speak to the groomer about what I would like done during the grooming appointment?

Every owner has different needs and expectations about grooming. Grooming and hairstyles are a matter of personal preference and I do everything to accommodate the owner's preference as long as it does not compromise the health or welfare of their pet. I ask that the owner share all information about any medical conditions and injuries as well as behavioral issues and tendencies your pet has experienced or exhibited when visiting other grooming facilities or veterinarian. My goal is to make their experience a positive one and stress free for both the owner and pet.

What is a "puppy cut"?

"Puppy Cut" is a loosely descriptive term. With most breeds, we maintain the cute puppy look. Most of the time, this means the hair is cut to the same length all over. Many people choose a puppy cut because it is easy to maintain but there is usually a choice of length (to some it means a medium length, while to others its a very short length). I can work with you to choose a length which works best for your dog.

Can I stay with my pet during the grooming?

Unfortunately no, if your pet can see you this usually leads to anxious and restless behavior. When grooming I work with sharp tools and would like to avoid any additional stress or excitement. You are more than welcome to see where your pet will be during the grooming before it starts. If for any reason I may need you, I will call and ask you to come outside.

What happens if my pet is matted?

It would depend on the severity of the matting, that would determine whether I need to give your pet a short haircut or not. While I do my very best to accommodate the owner's preference with their pet's haircut, if a pet is severely matted I will only do what is in the best interest of your pet.
Some tangles and mats that are away from the skin can be brushed out but if the matting is severe and close to the skin then I am risking skin damage and extreme pain for your pet. If the hair can be dematted without causing pain to the dog, it may be possible to save the coat. There will be an additional charge of $30 per half hour. If it is determined that I am unable to de-matt your pet and that the only option is a short haircut I will speak to you first. Your pet will be happier and I will help you with growing their hair back to a length and style you desire.

How often should my pet be groomed?

Frequency of grooming depends on the breed, coat type and length, lifestyle and how much brushing and detangling you do at home between grooming appointments. If your dog has a longer hair style or a coat that tends to get tangled, they should be professionally groomed every 2-4 weeks. A dog with a short hair style or short coat can be groomed every 6-8 weeks.

Do I have to be home when you come to groom my pet?

First time customers must be present for the appointment. This is so I can meet you and your pet, answer any questions, and get detailed grooming instructions. After the first appointment, you do not have to be home. Arrangements can be made so that you can go to work and come home to a freshly groomed pet.

At what age should I start getting my puppy groomed?

It’s never too soon to have your puppy groomed. Grooming early and grooming often will help your puppy become more socialized and tolerant of all of life’s sensations. I suggest getting your puppy groomed to experience the bath, the dryer, and the clippers as soon as they’ve had their second round of puppy booster vaccinations -- usually around 10-12 weeks of age. Puppies may or may not need a hair cut the first time, but should get a bath and a nail trim for the practice! I will slowly introduce grooming to your puppy to teach him that grooming is not something to fear.

Curbside Pet Spa LLC Mobile Dog Grooming Policy Agreement

Curbside Pet Spa LLC strives to provide exceptional care, service, and respect to you and your pet. Thank you for choosing me for your grooming needs. To ensure the safety, health, and comfort of your pet, yourself, and myself, please review and agree to the following policy before services begin.

1. Grooming Schedule & Ongoing Appointments:

Curbside Pet Spa LLC specializes in maintenance grooming. It is strongly recommended that pets remain on a recurring schedule every 8 weeks or less, depending on individual needs.

Clients are encouraged to book their next appointment at the time of service to maintain a regular schedule. If you choose to wait and book only when you feel your pet is due, immediate availability cannot be guaranteed and you may experience extended wait times. You are also welcome to pre-book multiple appointments or schedule for the entire year in advance if desired.

2. Vaccination Requirements:

Proof of a current rabies vaccination with an expiration date is required prior to any grooming services. Documentation may be provided via email, text, or in person.

3. Payment Policy:

Payment is due upon completion of services.

Accepted methods: cash, check, credit/debit card (amex is currently the only card I do not accept), and transfer via Zelle.

A $25 fee will be charged for any returned or bounced checks.

4. Cancellations and Appointment Reminders:

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling without penalty.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged 50% of the scheduled service fee.

My scheduling system sends automated reminders 2 days before your scheduled appointment. Please reply to the message to confirm that you are aware of your upcoming appointment.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, you must contact me directly at:

(860) 970-2300

**Please note: If you reply to the automated message with anything other than a confirmation, I will not receive your message, as the reminder system does not send replies to my personal phone number**

To confirm your appointment, please reply with "Y" or "Yes" only.

This automatically marks your appointment as confirmed in my calendar.

If you reply with anything other than "Y" or "Yes", I will not see it. For any changes, questions, or messages, please contact me directly at (860) 970-2300.

5. Appointments & Arrival Window:

Appointments are scheduled within a one-hour arrival window. While every effort is made to arrive as close to the estimated time as possible, exact arrival times are sometimes not guaranteed. Delays in my arrival may occur due to weather, traffic, mechanical issues, or prior appointments. Clients will be notified if arrival times changes.

Example: A 9–10 AM window means arrival may occur anytime between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. This is not the duration of the grooming appointment.

Grooming time varies by dog and may range from 1 to 3+ hours depending on breed, coat condition, and behavior.

6. Pet Behavior & Safety:

Please disclose any behavioral issues, medical concerns, or special handling needs prior to your appointment. This information is essential for the safety of both your pet and me.

If aggressive behavior occurs or your dog becomes a safety risk, the grooming session may be stopped if it is deemed unsafe to continue. With owner consent, muzzles may be used when necessary for safety.

7. Coat Condition & Matting Policy:

Your pet’s comfort is always the top priority. If matting is present, shaving may be required rather than dematting to prevent discomfort and injury. Severely matted coats increase the risk of cuts, bruising, or irritation. While every precaution is taken, Curbside Pet Spa LLC is not responsible for injury resulting from pre-existing matting.

Matted or excessively dirty coats that require additional time and care may result in extra charges.

At-home coat maintenance is essential between grooming appointments. Regular brushing at home helps prevent matting and keeps your dog comfortable. Attempting to remove matting in one session can cause unnecessary stress and discomfort for your pet, which is why brushing between appointments is strongly encouraged.

8. Health Disclosure:

Grooming is physically and mentally demanding for some pets. Please notify me if your pet has any medical conditions including, but not limited to, heart issues, joint problems, anxiety, or any other health concerns.

All grooming services for senior pets or pets with medical conditions are performed at the owner’s risk. Additional handling fees may apply for elderly, special needs, or difficult-to-groom dogs.

9. Fleas, Ticks & Parasites:

If your pet has fleas or parasites please have your dog treated by a veterinarian before scheduling a grooming appointment. This helps prevent the spread to other clients’ pets.

If your pet has had fleas recently, please notify me at the time of booking. Your appointment may be scheduled at the end of the day to minimize risk to other pets.

If fleas are discovered during your pet’s grooming appointment, a flea bath will be required and added to your service ($20 fee). Grooming cannot be completed until your pet has been treated.

Please note: The flea bath removes only the fleas present at the time of bathing and does not prevent re-infestation. For ongoing protection, consult your veterinarian about preventative treatment.

10. Service Area & Access:

Clients must ensure:

Legal and safe place for me to park the grooming van

Clear access to the pet at the scheduled time

Please make sure your pet has had a bathroom break prior to my arrival

I do offer latchkey services. If you will not be home, arrangements must be made in advance regarding access and payment.

11. Winter Weather Policy:

Curbside Pet Spa LLC operates year-round; however, the grooming van is not equipped with four-wheel drive.

If local schools are closed due to snow or hazardous conditions, services will also be postponed for safety. Weather is closely monitored and clients will be notified in advance if rescheduling is necessary.

All driveways and walkways must be cleared of snow and ice before your appointment. If conditions are unsafe or inaccessible, the appointment may be canceled.

12. Photos & Social Media:

Curbside Pet Spa LLC may take photos or videos of your pet to share on my business pages or at any events I attend. If you do not grant permission, please notify me in advance.

13. Agreement & Release:

By signing, you confirm that you have read and agree to all policies outlined above.

Policies are always available at:

www.curbsidepetspallc.com

Your pet is incredibly important to me. Every effort is made to ensure a positive, safe, and comfortable grooming experience.
